This DVD and accompanying data CD contain the information you will need to understand how to undertake a Business Impact Analysis, or BIA for short.

The film is set in a fictitious hotel and golfing centre. We follow the Business Continuity Manager, Ed Bullimore who is new in post, as he embarks on his BIA, from information collection through to sign off.
We see him with his sponsor (the General Manager of hotel) and learn of the motivation for a BIA in particular, and BC planning in general.
Ed explains how he first identified all the departments in the hotel, the key tasks and essential pieces of equipment. We are also introduced to the back offices and the “generic” processes common to any business such as HR, Finance, marketing, operations, and general management.
We follow him in meetings with the General Manager and then visiting various department heads, holding one to one ‘interviews’ to go through their analysis. We focus on one department, housekeeping, and see a head housekeeper in action as she completes her questionnaire, with Ed challenging her assumptions.
Finally, we see Ed hosting a workshop with all the department heads to agree the recovery priorities.
Although the story is set in a hotel, the principles and processes of undertaking a BIA depicted in the film apply to any business or organisation and are not specific or exclusive to the hotel industry.
The hotel story is punctuated with pieces to camera from industry practitioners and experts, offering their insights into the process.
